Before

• Follow forecasts/alerts; avoid being outdoors during thunderstorms.

During

• If possible, go inside a building or a hard-topped metal vehicle.
• Do not shelter under trees; avoid open areas.
• If you can hear thunder, lightning is a threat: crouch at the lowest point, feet together; do not lie flat.
• Stay away from metal objects/fences and power lines.
• Indoors: avoid plumbing, wired phones, and electrical appliances; do not bathe/shower.

After

• Stay in a safe place until the threat passes; follow official warnings.
